About therapy with Sarah
-
I specialize in perinatal and reproductive mental health, disordered eating and body image, anxiety, depression, and life transitions. Some clients come in navigating just one of these areas, while others are dealing with several at once. No matter your situation, I'm here to work through it with you.
-
I draw on Internal Family Systems (IFS), mindfulness, and self-compassion practices. My work is also informed by Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP) and a relational, feminist framework. I am a Health at Every Size and Body Trust provider, which means my space is weight-inclusive and free from diet culture.
In practice, this means our sessions are collaborative and exploratory. We're not just talking about your experiences; we're working through them together.

I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and have been practicing since 2018. Before becoming a therapist, I spent six years as a labor doula in New York City, supporting over 100 families through postpartum. I'm a Perinatal Mental Health Certified provider (PMH-C) and a certified Body Trust provider. I also hold a Master of Social Work from New York University and a BA in Gender Studies from Kenyon College. In addition, I write about weight stigma and reproductive health and facilitate workshops on weight-inclusive care.

I work with adults navigating perinatal and reproductive mental health challenges, disordered eating and body shame, anxiety, depression, and life transitions.

Therapy offers a place to pause, look inward, and begin to understand parts of yourself that have felt most difficult. The goal isn't to fix you. It's to help you build a more accepting, compassionate relationship with yourself so that navigating the harder moments feels a little more easeful.
Logistics & getting started
-
Yes. Before scheduling your first session, I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation. This is a low-key, no-pressure conversation for you to share what's bringing you to therapy, ask any questions, and get a sense of whether working together feels like a good fit. There's no commitment required.
-
All sessions are held virtually on a secure, confidential platform. You can join from wherever feels most comfortable and convenient. I see clients throughout New York, Connecticut, and New Jersey.
-
Sessions are 45 minutes each week.
-
I work with clients on a weekly basis. One session each week allows for meaningful change together.
-
There's no set timeline — it really depends on you and what you're working toward. Some people find a few months of focused work to be enough, while others choose to continue longer as they explore deeper patterns. We'll revisit this together as we go.
-
Yes, I'm currently open to new clients for virtual therapy in New York, Connecticut, and New Jersey. Availability does change, so if my schedule is full when you contact me, we'll figure out the best time for you to start.
-
I understand that schedules change and life happens. At the same time, consistent attendance is an important part of the therapeutic process, and your weekly appointment time is reserved specifically for you.
Each client is permitted up to four cancellations per calendar year at no charge, for any reason. After that, the full session fee will apply to any additional missed sessions regardless of notice. No-shows, where no notice is given before the session start time, will also be charged the full session fee.
If you need to cancel, you're always welcome to reach out about rescheduling. I'll do my best to offer an alternative time when possible, though rescheduled sessions can't be guaranteed and your regular appointment time remains reserved. I understand unexpected situations arise and may use clinical discretion in rare circumstances.
-
Yes — confidentiality is fundamental to the therapeutic relationship. What you share in sessions stays between us and will not be shared with anyone else without your written permission. There are a few rare exceptions required by law, which I'll walk you through before we begin.
Therapy costs & insurance
-
I'm an out-of-network provider, which means I don't bill insurance directly. All sessions are self-pay.
I can provide a superbill upon request, which you can submit to your insurance provider for potential reimbursement. To check your out-of-network benefits, contact your insurance carrier and ask about your coverage per session, how many sessions are covered, and whether your deductible has been met.
-
Sessions are $200 each. A limited number of sliding-scale spots are available for those who need financial flexibility — reach out to ask about current openings.
-
Payment is due at the time of each session. I use SimplePractice for scheduling and billing, and payment is processed securely via Stripe using a credit card on file.
